If you look up Fred's reference you get to this uplifting verse.
8 May his days be few;
may another take his place of leadership.
9 May his children be fatherless
and his wife a widow.
10 May his children be wandering beggars;
may they be driven [d] from their ruined homes.
11 May a creditor seize all he has;
may strangers plunder the fruits of his labor.
12 May no one extend kindness to him
or take pity on his fatherless children.
13 May his descendants be cut off,
their names blotted out from the next generation.
It's not really one of the "feel-good" psalms.
It's a rich conservative tradition, dating back to John Derbyshire's National Review column urging the murder of Chelsea Clinton to keep the bloodline from continuing.
ReplyDeleteGood thing Fred tells us he's a Christian.
ReplyDeleteMy reference was simply verse 8, within the hope that Obama would only serve one term. I wish the man no ill will personally.
ReplyDeleteIt is just like you to attribute something else in order to make at attack on me personally Grumps.
Typical Whallah behavior take something out of context to attack someone you do not agree with.
Exactly what I have come to expect from you Grumps.
"My reference was simply verse 8,"
ReplyDeleteOf course it was, Fred. However, verse 9 puts verse 8 into the proper context.
This is just par for the course at "Real Debate," where wishing death upon your adversaries is common practice.
Darn it Zach!
ReplyDeleteI was just going to say that Fred is the one that took "something out of context" namely verse 8.
You must have your socialist pagen friends reading my mind again.
Fred, did you actually just say that I took your post of one, cherry-picked line out of the Bible without context? How incredibly short-sighted of you.
ReplyDeleteOne of the tenets of real debate is to put things into context. That's what looking at the whole passage does.
So capper, what's your excuse for your bigoted slimes?
ReplyDeleteShame on y'all...for thinking Fred was bright enough to come up with this on his own.
ReplyDeleteNever claimed it was mine Grnat, I hat tipped where I dfound it.
ReplyDelete"I hat tipped"
ReplyDeleteSee that makes it okay.
