Sykes Stoops To Mocking The Disabled

We've already known for years that Charlie Sykes has no morals and no sense of decency.

But once again, Sykes has gone beyond the pale, and shown his true nature.

He has decided to publicly mock, both on his radio show and on his blog, Jeremy Ryan, or as he is more commonly known, Segway Jeremy Ryan, as that Mr. Ryan has made an online appeal to help with his legal bills:
You may have read/seen about "Segway Boy," the perpetual protester who has apparently made a career out of annoying behavior, wracking up dozens of unpaid tickets along the way. The last time we encountered Jeremy Ryan, he had "15 citations totaling $3,604.50 for protesting and disrupting events at the Capitol." As the paper reported: "So far, he hasn't had to pay a cent." Now he's taken to the internet to beg... for others to help him continue to mooch. Classic stuff...
Mr. Ryan has become a fixture around Madison, known for riding his Segway and being very vocal and very visible in his protests of the outrages being committed by Scott Walker and the Republican-controlled legislature. While I personally cannot condone all of Mr. Ryan's behaviors, he has had the right to make his feelings known.

While the Segway does make Mr. Ryan stand out and has made him an easily recognizable figure, it is equally as well known that Mr. Ryan has a very rare and life-threatening genetic condition that requires his using the Segway.

In fact, at the time of this writing, Mr. Ryan is currently in the hospital after collapsing and has been for days, due to this condition.

With these medical bills piling up, is it any wonder why Mr. Ryan would ask for a little help from his friends and supporters?

But the fact that Mr. Ryan has this life-threatening condition and is disabled to the point of needing the Segway in order to get around doesn't slow Sykes down one bit from mocking him.

Likewise, newly ordained Koch employee and comic book aficionado, Kevin Binversie also has to take a cheap swipe at him, basically saying he should sit down and shut up and do what the dark overlords tell him to do.

And to complete the trifecta of vulgarity, Bruce Redenz, known for getting into trouble in diners and doing ORRs from his job, comments on Sykes' site with this heart-warming way to treat a disabled person:
I will not be sending Jeremy a check.

I would, however, be willing to offer him a very unglamorous $10.00 p/hour job in the Madison area. He will need to be prepared to get filthy dirty doing arduous, repetitive work. I can offer him 35-40 hours per week at least through the summer. He will need to be prepared to show up consistently, at pre-determined, routine business hours.

This is a legitimate offer, Jeremy. Charlie knows how to reach me.

I will begin holding my breath now in preparation for Jeremy's call.
Sadly, these three seem to be more of the norm than the exception to the right wing of the state. And then they wonder why the people of Wisconsin are outraged and are actively working to correct the direction this state is heading.

Now, of course, if any of these three had a shred of common decency in them, they wouldn't have done what they done in the first place, so I wouldn't advise Mr. Ryan to wait for them to apologize for their crude and rude behavior, even though that is exactly what they should be doing.

But then again, if they are low enough to mock a disabled person, why would anyone care what they have to say about anything in the first place?

Coverage, Provision, What's the Difference?

Patrick McIlheran gets pretty smug when Newfoundland Premier Dan Williams chose to come to the United States to have a surgical procedure done:

But Williams didn’t go get his surgery in Montreal or Toronto. He didn’t see the best heart surgeon in Canada, one of the world’s most advanced economies and chock-full of smart, talented people.

He went somewhere in the United States, the health care system of which is regularly derided in polite Canadian circles as the Wild West. Investors Business Daily notes that other Canadian politicians, including Belinda Stronach, a cabinet member in the Liberal Party government in 2007, did so as well.

And no, of course those politicians didn't mean their trips as a knock on Canadian health care. Neither did the full 1% of the country’s population was sent abroad for care in just the past year alone meant it as an insult.

But it isn’t coincidence that, when Canadians need specialized care, they can't find it in their so fair but mediocre system.

For someone who wants to portray himself as being erudite, PaddyMac can come off looking quite the simpleton.

For most people with a command of the language and even rudimentary understanding of the health care system is able to differentiate between health care coverage and a health care provider.

No one on the left or right denies that the United States has some of the best medical providers or equipment in the world. But all of the best doctors and all of the best medical wonders does little good to someone who does not have the independent wealth or the adequate coverage to pay for it.

I would hardly expect that the USA tax payers were footing the bill. It was indubitably the Canadian health care system that allowed the Premier to come to the US by being the ones that actually paid for it.

But even has obtuse as Paddy was in his arrogance, he wasn't the worst offender. Kevin Binversie not only was unable to tell the difference between one who practices medicine and people that pay for said treatment, but also cannot tell the difference between a Premier and a Governor.

It must be all those French Canadians fault. It's like they have a different word for everything!

Squawkers and Birthers

Brawler takes on Charlie's misdirection regarding the whole ridiculous birther movement:

You can accuse Charlie Sykes of many things, but you can't accuse him of being burdened by conscience or having a nose for conspiracy theories gone too far.

So naturally Charlie was an early adopter in opposing the birther conspiracy theory (ie, Obama is not a natural born citizen). The Brawler recalls him "standing up for what's right" in this instance before the election, even when callers raised it. And callers have continued to raise it.

And on today's show, Charlie said enough is enough.

But do you know who's fault it is we're hearing about the birthers (Charlie adding that the story's been all over the place the past 7 to 10 days). Not the birthers themselves. It's the fault of the liberal mainstream media who cover the birthers!

Meanwhile, folkbum takes out PaddyMac with just one sentence.

But one shouldn't underestimate the power of these insane birthers. They even have the Kevin "The Brain" Binversie all flummoxed by a simple spoof.

Kevin Binversie, aka Mr. Obvious Man

Poor, old Kevin Binversie. He doesn't like Whallah!:
The more I read "Whallah!" on my RSS feed, the more I realize that blog would be really, really, really, really boring without the existence of conservatives. It's like every unoriginal thought the Port Side of the Cheddarsphere has had at a Drinking Liberally over the past five years rolled into one...with posts no doubt done on the taxpayer dime of Milwaukee Co.
Well, let's see now. The tag line at the top of the site reads:
Committed to the monitoring of the local right-wing media and exposing their lies, hypocrisies, and foibles, so that you don't have to.
Mmm. A site about right wingers. So if there is no right wingers to talk about, I would have to agree that a site about them would be rather boring.

No wonder the Republicans keep losing ground, if they got guys like Binversie working for them.

And what's up with the Milwaukee dime comment? Who does he think I am, Scott Walker or David Clarke?

Je Regrette

Sykes' has boasted that his book has been republished in Chinese and German. Now, it has been republished in French. I personally think it is the best translation, for when you click on Charlie's post from your reader (at the time of this writing anyway), you see this:

French is probably too beautiful and romantic a language to accept Charlie's words.

I'm still waiting for them to translate his book to English.

P.S. Happy, Kevin?

Right Winger Pays Me High Compliment

Kevin Binversie, right wing blogger, has actually given me two compliments.

One is that he spells my name correctly. Secondly, he gives me credit for the ever-pithy and erudite grumps, who was the actual author of this post.

But as a friend of Whallah! and Cog Dis alerted me, Kevin did miss one: An American Carol out of his examples: "To date, An American Carol has grossed $7 million after having a production budget of $20 million"

Oh, and Mr. Binversie, the "Kev" that grumps referred to is Kevin Fischer, not you. Sorry to disillusion you like that.
