A Whallah! Election Special

We here at Whallah! are very proud to present something that has never been done before in the history of Whallah! or even the blogosphere. We have managed to get almost all the major right wing media players to participate and cocontribute to this special post, in which they will share their thoughts on the election results from this past Tuesday. James T. Harris is too busy trying to get attention on Faux News, since all the other stations in the nation already caught onto his BS, and Jessica McBride is still in her undisclosed secret location.


So without further delay, let's get the ball rolling. First up is the one and only Mark Belling. Mark, what are your thoughts on the election results?

Why Charlie Will Vote For McCain

Charlie put up a post yesterday, and like he usually does, it is just a link to another post. Chuckles calls it the ten reasons to vote for McCain, and the link goes to a National Review article done by David Frum.

The list is the usual fear and smear that we've been hearing ad nauseum from the right. The telling one is the number one reason why Mr. Frum, and Charlie, will be voting for McCain (emphasis mine):

1) John McCain is white, the son and grandson of admirals, married to a wealthy heiress – and yet he has experienced degrees of suffering, despair, and defeat that not one in a million of us can imagine. Barack Obama wears a black skin and carries an exotic name.

What the hell does that have to do with anything? I reckon it just goes to show that Charlie does have racist qualities and he isn't even bothering to hide them anymore. Excuse me if I don't hold my breath waiting for him to apologize or for other right wingers to condemn this. They don't seem to interested in integrity lately.

McIlheran Beats Same Broken War Drum

In today's version of what's left of the newspaper, McIlheran has a column trying to argue that McCain was right about the Iraq War.

Unfortunately for PaddyMac, but not surprisingly, his whole argument is based on false premises.

He repeatedly states that the Iraq War was solely about deposing Saddam from power. Nothing could be further from the truth. But to admit to the truth would be against PaddyMac's very own nature.

But there are some real doozies in Paddy's column, that almost defy belief that someone would have the audacity to write something like this and actually put their name to it. For example (emphasis mine):

Osama bin Laden did. In 2001, he said how inspiring our failure in Somalia was: "We found they had no power worthy of mention," he told al-Jazeera. Obama likes to point out that al-Qaida wasn't in Iraq until we overthrew Hussein. But that is irrelevant now: The question is whether, once they've arrived, the U.S. skedaddles.

Ol' Paddy says that it's now irrelevant that Bush, and his squawking followers, lied to get us in an unjust war? He says that one of their main talking points, of having to fight al Qaeda, is now not important? That the truth doesn't matter anymore? Well, I'm sure in Patrick's world, it never has mattered much.

But the real kicker is at the end of Paddy's tour of untruths:

The question, then, will not be whether to start a war, and the president won't get to make it in the consequence-free circumstances of the Illinois legislature. The question will be how the war will end.

Sorry, Paddy, but whether to start a war matters a helluva lot more. Statesmanship and diplomacy can be used to avert another unnecessary and unjust war. These are skills that McCain is woefully devoid of. Preventing a false war also eliminates altogether worrying about trying to interpret who won the war, as that it never happened.

I guess that McIlheran just couldn't figure it out for himself. He's too busy beating his broken drum.

Fischer Needs Some Schoolin'

Fischer, following in the meme of the RNC's squawking points, is just surely looking out for the taxpayer when he whines about an event being held at MATC. The event's theme, per Fischer's own blogpost, is "Learn how the political system works and take part in your civic responsibility."

Of course, being the big celebrity he is, he doesn't have time to worry about actual political grandstanding at local high schools.

And for the record, I think it is fine that a candidate appears at a school, as long as the candidate's campaign pays for the security and other costs that would not have occurred otherwise.

Playing The Race Deck

Charlie Sykes and his cronies often would say that when Obama won the Democratic nomination, that racism no longer existed. What a load of crap.

The burly Brawler notes that Sykes himself did some race baiting regarding tax policies and the current economic collapse.

And of course, we have already seen racist buttons, shirts and waffle boxes.

Both Zach and Other Side tell us of a teacher in Florida that makes up a vile distortion of Obama's slogan of "Change" into a overtly racist acronym that uses the "N" word, and only gets a slap on the wrist.

Another joker in Florida (what is with Florida?) that puts up a racist sign in his yard claiming that Obama is a "half-breed Muslin" [sec]. (I don't know if he thought Obama was half man and half a bolt of cloth, but if he was, I'd bet Rachel Ray would wear it as a scarf so that Michelle Malkin could have another hissy fit.) In the body of the article, they interview the clown and you can see just how ignorant some people's attitudes can truly be.

And to put the lipstick on the whole shebang, Sarah Palin is going around using racially tinged phrases to attack Obama. But that is not too surprising, considering how Palin mistreats the Native Americans in her own state. She has a history of being dismissive to minorities.

Instead of playing a race card, the right wing is playing the whole damn deck. The scary part is that they are doing this even though not a single one of them is actually playing with a full deck.

What Is The Color Of The Sky On His Planet?

On Friday, Charlie was crowing on his show on how Palin won the VP debate. He even put up a blog post on it, citing a handful of people with no pride that stood up for her. He continued his spewing of misinformation on Sunday's Incite.

Too bad for him that the majority of the nation is smarter than that, and declared Biden to be the clear winner.

In related matters, the mighty folkbum has a treatise correcting Rick Esenberg, another inhabitant of that alternate universe.

Stay Classy, Republicans

For all their denial that race is a factor in the upcoming presidential elections, the Republicans must think that people are as ignorant as they are.

First there was the T-shirts that tried to portray Obama as Curious George.

Then they were selling racist buttons.

Now, those classy Repugnicans are selling boxes of "waffle mix" with racist pictures on the front and back of the box. It even includes the already disproved allegations that Obama is a Muslim. Only a moron or someone blinded by their own racism still believes that. Real classy, these Republicans.

Sweating With Sykes

After last night's historical speech, TMJ4 had Charlie on to give it his spin. Just looking at this face, one could tell Obama hit the sucker out of the park much better than Sykes expected. Sykes pale complexion and sweaty brow, his stuttering and deer in the headlights look was more than enough to tell how the tide was rising.

Then he opened his mouth and his biggest complaint? Obama's speech was too partisan. Huh? They pay him for this? Um, Charlie, Obama, the first African-American presidential candidate in history, has been attacked by you and your doppelgangers for month, and now you're surprised to find out he was a Democrat all along?

Or perhaps, Sykes was just a little nauseous. He may have just learned, before air time, that Obama had drawn some 80,000 people, while McCain can't even give away tickets to his announcement of a running mate.

Musical McMansions

By now, unless you live under a rock, you should have heard of McMain's inability to recall how many homes he and his wife own. If you haven't, Zach has more on it here.

But even though McCain might not have a clue to how many houses he has, it does not mean he is an elitist. It just means he has no clue to what's going on.

How Does He Do That?

Sykes this morning was going on a wild rant full of self-contradiction, hypocrisy and outright lies regarding the whole Georgia/Russia affair that is going on.

First he talked about how great McCain was for standing up for the Georgian people, and that his words brought them such great comfort. Yet this is the same guy that got his panties in a bundle about Obama doing a speech in Germany. In fact, the right wing is still in a tizzy about the whole thing. So much so that they are going to the extreme of violating Godwin's Law.

He went on how the liberals should be ashamed of ever trusting Russia, and that McCain's machismo is why people should vote for him in November. Sykes however failed to mention that it was Bush, who is hardly a liberal, was the one that peered into Putin's eyes and liked what he saw. He also willfully neglected to tell his audience about McCain's chief foreign policy advisor is on the take from Georgia. How Sykes can be so hypocritical and blatantly lie to such an extreme, and not have his head explode is beyond me. Jay Bullock believes that it is the right wing's campaign strategy to be full of double talk, which would explain why Sykes' head hasn't imploded. For me, I'm thinking it's the hair spray.

Sykes Is Just Hopeless

Six months ago, there was some talk about whether talk radio was on its way to the media graveyard. The theory was that with McCain becoming the presumed Republican candidate for presidency, despite all the squawking of the squawkers, that talk radio was no longer effective.

At the time, I had stated that the feckless squawkers would just flip-flop, like McCain, and would continue on like nothing happened.

Of course, I was correct. Sort of.

Talk radio is still alive, but it is not well and kicking.

It appears that squawkers, like our own litttle Chuckles, has been reduced to mewling about the popularity of Senator Barack Obama, while they desperately scramble around to find something, anything from the McCainiacs to crow about.

But being the squawkers that they are, all they end up doing is laying big goose eggs.

Good Words, Wrong Man

Patrick McIlheran had a column in Wednesday's paper touting the surge and how it made Iraq safe for Senator Barack Obama to visit there. I won't get into whether or not the surge worked (it seems it just moved the enemy from one spot to another, but didn't get rid of them). But I would like to highlight the last paragraph of Paddy's column (emphasis mine):

Not that McCain should expect gratitude, which is for monuments, not elections. But that events have proved one candidate so right and the other so spectacularly wrong tells us something about their respective ability to judge what to do in the next crisis. That really is an issue worth voting on.

This passage struck me as being ironic, coming from McIlheran. Even while McIlheran was touting the supposed effectiveness of the surge, he was missing the key point to the whole thing.

There would have been no need of a surge, if there was no al Qaeda in Iraq. And there would have been no al Qaeda in Iraq, if our country hadn't bought into the false bill of goods that Bush, McCain and squawkers like McIlheran was selling.

But it was Obama, not McCain, that saw the folly of going into Iraq, which was contained, and ignoring the real enemy, bin Laden, who was holed up in Afghanistan.

So, let us review again what McIlheran wrote:

I am sure Obama would thank McIlheran for the vote of confidence.

There's Just No Pleasin' Some People

I had the misfortune of hearing Sykes squawking away the other day. He was griping and groaning that the media is paying attention to Senator Barack Obama while he is touring the Middle East war zones.

Excuse me? Wasn't he one of the majorettes who, not so long ago, was criticizing Obama for not going to Iraq? Now he's complaining that he did go to Iraq?

Perhaps he's just annoyed that they're not giving the same kind of coverage to McCain. Perhaps they would if McCain did something besides go to baseball games, take naps and recycle Bush's campaign speeches from 2004.

Then again, does Sykes really want us paying closer attention to McCain? It never seems to help, but usually hurts, his standings in the polls.

Just For Capper

Since he's such a taskmaster, I've decided to humor capper and post a little something I found as I was surfing the Cheddarsphere today. In a post over at his blog, The Way I See It!, Cudahy blogger Randy Hollenbeck posted a few of his favorite pictures of Barack Obama:







Now call me crazy - and you wouldn't be the first to do so - but the pictures above strike me as being more than a little racist, and not even in a subtle, *wink wink, nod nod* kind of way. Now I'm sure some will say, "Zach, don't you think you're making a mountain out of a molehill?" and I'll say I don't think I am. While I know these kinds of prejudiced and racially insensitive aren't representative of how all conservatives feel, they sure don't do much to dispel the idea that there's a large group of conservative folks who can't bear the thought of an African-American serving as President.

Is It a Mid Life Crisis?

Now I'm no expert, but our old pal James T. Harris seems to be having a bit of a mid life crisis regarding the candidacy of Senator John McCain:

No.

I will not do this again. I will not fight for another old candidate who thinks it’s his turn. Bob Dole used me up. I’ve got nothing left for John McCain.

Plus, he is no conservative.

He’s got no fight! What I’ve seen over the last two days is more ineffective compassionate conservatism.

Blah!

That speech Tuesday night SUCKED! IT SUCKED!!!! NO! I WILL NOT DO IT!

IT’S OVER!!!!

I AM BACK ON THE WALL, PEOPLE! BACK ON THE DAMN WALL!

His back is against the wall people...don't push him! He might just go postal!

In all seriousness, I can understand why James T. would be a little upset. If my party's candidate looked as ghastly as John McCain did when he was giving his speech on Tuesday night, I'd be upset too.

Who Is John McCain

One of the favorite mantras from the righties, including chief squawker and the tie-length-challenged one, Sykes, is "Who is Obama? What do we know of Obama?"

This only goes to show that they've been too busy blathering to listen or pay attention.

Well, let us turn the tables and ask "Who is the real John McCain?"

Is he the one that is against or for Bush's tax breaks? The one against or for war with Iran? The one against or for the extreme conservative picks on SCOTUS? The one for or against abortion?

And When Will These Officers Get An Apology?

When I saw Sykes' post titled "Cops Still Waiting For Apology", I thought he was referring to my piece here, pointing out that Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker owes an apology, and whole helluva lot more, to the four corrections officers that he scapegoated.

But I was wrong. It was just another attemtped dig at the next President of the United States, Barack Obama. And even his listeners Whallahed him, when they provided these links to other media outlets covering the story.

From the first link (emphasis mine):

Brennan, who controlled the crowd near the Portland Police Memorial, noticed several Porta Potties set up in the middle of the memorial. Brennan had been at the site five days earlier for an annual memorial service and a flag was still set at half mast on the day of the rally.

My question is if he was bothered that much, why didn't he say something when he first saw them, and not almost a week later, after the event?

I Always Thought That Elephants Had Long Memories

But that apparently isn't true if the elephant is a Republican. All across the right side of the cheddarsphere, squawking bloggers and blogging squawkers are chuckling themselves silly with the pictures and videos of Hillary Clinton Supporters that were upset with the way the DNC handled the Michigan and Florida primaries.

I still remember how these same squawking bloggers and blogging squawkers were all up in arms as John McCain was nearing clinching the Republican nomination. They were stating that there was no way they would be able to vote for McCain. They would rather switch to one of the Democrats, or just sit it out. Who can forget the goofy Ann Coulter attacking McCain on the Hannity and Colmes show, and threatened to campaign for Hillary Clinton:



It had gotten so bad that even Sykes had to start putting up posts and wasting air time to try to get the conservative faithful back to the mother ship party and get willing to vote for McCain in November, even if they had to "hold their noses" while doing it.

Wow, what commitment on their side!

Those Republicans not only have lousy memories, their insight is more than a bit myopic as well.
