Blame It On The Gall Bladder Surgery

We told you about the friend of Jay Weber and Kevin Fischer, who repeatedly shown her true colors in her repeated, vile attacks on Mayor Barrett for his heroic feats from over the weekend.

Other Side has the scoop behind this vitriol:

"I took the piece from somebody else and reposted it on my blog. Additionally, I did this shortly after having gall bladder surgery and while under the influence of painkillers and anesthesia. In that state I didn't notice anything wrong with the post. I'm from the Town of Merton (where Jessica McBride resides as well) and to me what was posted was not stupid, it was a Merton thing. If I had not been under the effects of anesthesia I would have likely noticed that it could have been taken the wrong way and would have passed on it."

Other Side has quite the satirical post on the new fad sure to tear through the Cheddarsphere like a talk show host goes through hair products: The Conservative Flab Program, which include inspirational quips like this:

If you don't completely transform your body within 30 days just like I did, Charlie will keep your money and chastise you personally on-line and on his radio show (hey, you got on). So what are you waiting for? C'mon, let's battle liberalism together.

Fred Dooley: The Epitome Of Hypocrisy

Shortly after the election, right wing blogger Peter DiGaudio made some outrageous comments on his site, Texas Hold'em Blogger, as well as some comments on Boots and Sabers, that could be considered to be criminal. This drew a rather large amount of criticism from the left, like the Prodigal Brawler and Zach, as well as some conservatives, like James Wigderson.

I chose not to write about it for a few reasons. One, I know Peter has a history of flying of the handle and saying irresponsible and totally unacceptable things. Secondly, I do believe, based on what I saw, and from what others have told me, that Peter does have a clinically diagnosable mental health issue. I have a different perspective than most, as that my training and my career is based on helping those with mental illness. Thirdly, with everyone else piling on him, both publicly and privately, I did not feel that I would have anything to add, and did not want to add to any issues Peter might have. Another major reason for my silence on the issue was simply that I had bigger fish to fry.

Well, Peter, in a fit of pique, chose to delete his entire site. A few days later, he came back with a new site. Badger Blogger and Fred Dooley both proudly announced it, but had never publicly denounced the original problematic posts and comments. This caused them a bit of grief, I'm sure. Again, I said nothing, because this was what I expected from them, unfortunately.

Dooley became so incensed with the criticism, that he felt compelled to put up a post explaining his actions. Now, for the uninitiated, Dooley is an extreme right wing blogger that has problems with polite interactions. His site, mistitled "Real Debate Wisconsin" is anything but that. Dooley has the tendency to use irresponsible rhetoric and over the top hyperbole from time to time as well.

He has also banned many people from his site, mostly for the sin of disagreeing with him. The most recent being another one of our prodigal contributors, Other Side.

Dooley also hates a lot of people, including yours truly. He has written many posts and comments attacking me personally and attacking this site. One of the many insults he flailed about in my general direction was that I am some sort of sexist, just because I had the audacity to disagree with Jessica McBride.

So, you can see, I was just amazed at the level of hypocrisy when Dooley wrote this:

In short, these complainers are the same people who don't seem to have any problem with similar speech from the left. If you'd like to see the local equivalent of Peter's work on the left, do a search for Blue Racine. That's a particularly vile and vulgar site that these same paragons of virtue complaining about myself, Peter and Patrick @ Badger Blogger have no issues at all with. Funny how an acerbic conservative bothers them yet they have no issues at all with acerbic lefties. I prefer to just ignore them, they are not worthy of any energy or effort on my part, I have enough to do.

Yup, Dooley, who had accused me of sexism for disagreeing with a woman, calls a site run by a woman vile and vulgar. Interestingly, one of the contributors at his site is also a contributor at Blue Racine. Perhaps it's just a jealousy issue. More likely it's hypocrisy.

Another funny thing is that none of his commenters found anything vulgar or vile about Blue Racine. In fact, many of the commenters remark that Fred's site is much, much worse than this site.

So, let's review.

• He calls me sexist for disagreeing with McBride, but then attacks a woman, calling her site vile and vulgar.
• The site he calls vile and vulgar is found by independent commenters to be anything but that, but do notice that his site is actually vile and vulgar.
  
• He says that he ignores us terrible, terrible lefties, but felt that he had to respond.
• He calls his site Real Debate, when he bans people for disagreeing with him.
  

About the only way Dooley could have been more hypocritical is by telling someone that they need to seek out mental health counseling.

And has an added bonus to his ridiculousness, we have another comment on Dooley's post from the (in)famous mickey/gus:

Libs have been known to burn the flag. Virulent strains of LIBTARD-ism still do.

Lastly, Patriots support, defend and love America.
Libtards don't. They believe others should support, defend and love America. Libs want an America that is weak and full of lazy weak libtards.

Whallah! Fever

I am afraid. Very afraid. It is my sad duty to announce that the Brew City Brawler is very ill.

He has apparently caught Election Season Fever, and has become delirious. Symptoms include writing Whallah!-type posts, but forgetting he is part of Whallah's writing team. Who's Clucking Now?

For any of those of you who may still be a little confused about the unofficial post and counterpost going on between McBride and the Illusory Tenant before the Supreme Court Election, Other Side has painstakingly, and very creatively, explained it for us, with the use of illustrations.

It's The Culture, Part I

One of Harris' favorite battle cries is "It's the culture!" He uses that whether he is talking about racism, gangs, teen pregnancy, the economy, disco, sardines, rabid aardvarks, or anything else you care to name. It's always the fault of "the culture."

So what culture does he blame for this picture that he posted?



To make matters worse, he starts calling Rev. Wright a fascist. Now, what the Reverend Wright said was irresponsible, but as a good friend pointed out, this was the same sort of philosophy that Dr. King espoused, but couched in much harsher terms that Dr. King would have used. My friend also pointed out that the Reverend has a right to express his feelings, as much as any one else. But Harris to points out what makes him believe that the Reverend is a fascist.

Furthermore, doesn't Harris wanting to quash the Reverend's right to speak, to condemn the NAACP for inviting the Reverend, and for being so irresponsible in his remarks, make Harris the fascist?

According to the dictionary, it would seem so. I think the vacationing Brawler would agree with me as well. And let us not forget that it is Harris that espouses that he owns his daughter. That would seem rather fascist as well.

Just one other thought. It strikes me that when Other Side put up a post with pictures of Scott Walker and Hitler, he was roundly criticized, by the left and right. This even continued when he explained the point he was trying to make with the first post.

Except for David Casper, who criticized both OS and Harris, there hasn't been a peep from the right. Does this mean that they are OK with this false comparison in some circumstances? Or is it that just not many people read Harris' hate-filled tripe?

Well Wishes To The Crown Prince

Ah, but it is a grievous thing to hear that Other Side, the Crown Prince of Progressives, had been feeling less than stellar in recent days:

Oddly enough, later that day about 1:00 pm I began feeling uncomfortable. I checked my heart rate and it felt irregular, and I was beginning to feel pressure in my chest and neck. After about twenty minutes I decided I should call my wife. I got up and nearly fell. Fortunately she was by the phone and left immediately, but not until after getting a promise I would dial 911 if I felt any worse.

She took me to Froedert where it was determined I was suffering from the same ailment as back in Sept. 2006 ... my heartbeat continued to be irregular, but more ominously, it had sped to 170 beats a minute. They considered dosing me with a drug that actually stops the heart momentarily. I was not in favor of this. They injected me with this drug in Sept. 2006 and it was extremely unpleasant. Imagine that all blood circulation has ceased. Beginning at the extremities, a feeling of approaching blackness occurs ... then it's gone. Back to normal. I imagine this is what death might feel like ... blackness overwhelms, a shudder, then you're gone.

Anyway, the idea is to restart the heart, kind of like pressing restart on a computer. Fortunately this time, my heart went back into rhythm after about an hour. I was allowed to go home, but now must contact a cardiologist. A younger brother has this and now has a pacemaker. Don't want that.

Rest easy, young Prince. Your friends and allies will be alright while you recuperate. And do what the doctors recommend. It's not just what you want. You have a family and friends that needs and wants you here. Don't make me issue a Royal Edict!

Off To A Fast Start

Other Side only geared up his old blogsite last night, and he is already coming out swinging.

Gotta love that in a guy.

Balls of Brass

Our friend, Other Side, has decided to take a new direction in his blogging career. He is now dedicating his blog to his favorite pasttime, baseball.

Although we will miss his biting political wit and I will personally miss having his posts to just link to on lazy days, I wish him the best of luck and hopes for success in this new pursuit.

However, all hope is not lost, as that Other Side has promised to post here occassionally, so we just might not get too forlorn.

Hopefully, he'll bring that Tim Rock fellow with him.

No, Jessica, THIS Is Satire

Sometimes McBride can really get on a roll, and manages to get absolutely nothing right. This post is a classic example. Let's look at it, shall we?

First, we have this paragraph:

Some liberal is apparently demanding that Patrick McIlheran remove Texas Hold Em blog from his blogroll because of a piece of strongly worded satire Peter posted. They are apparently implying Patrick shouldn't get to keep his job if he links to Peter.

Um, Jessica, the "some liberal" is Other Side. And he wasn't objecting to Tex's Hitlery post about Hillary Clinton (although he could have). The objection was to a post in which Tex called a group of Spanish-speaking people "chattering chihuahuas", a blatantly racist comment. If McBride were to actually read a liberal's post, she might have picked up on that. But then again, she might be afraid of being exposed to reality.

Then, McBride comes out with this:

Worry about your own blogrolls, liberals. Stop trying to destroy other people's careers by drumming up supposedly job-killing offense and faux outrage; focus on your own jobs.

Hmm, I wonder what Kevin Barrett would think of that advice coming from her? But McBride's not done yet:

Save your outrage for the people who use racial and sexual slurs, like Dog Chapman or Illusory Tenant.

As mentioned above, that is what Other Side was doing. Jessica, please stop doing your selective outrage. And learn to let go of things, would you?

But McBride's coup de grace (or in McBridean French: coop de grease) is this:

Otherwise, get over yourselves. It was SATIRE. It's not meant to be taken literally.

Satire is defined as: Irony, sarcasm, or caustic wit used to attack or expose folly, vice, or stupidity, per the American Heritage Dictionary. That would also be the perfect description of Whallah!'s approach to McBride and the rest of the right-wing local media. Instead, she labels us as an "abuse/hate blog". Go figure.

One would think that a person who is receiving tax dollars to allegedly teach college students journalism, would at least know the definitions of words, and how to use those words appropriately.
