Fischer: I Ain't No Misogynist, Either!!

Mr. Morality, aka Kevin Fischer, shows us what being a respectful gentleman is all about.

He writes about a young woman in Ojai, California, nicknamed the Pastie Lady.

Fischer, who makes sure he posted the pictures of the young lady, but forgets the link to the article, writes this in his intro to the story (the adolescent emphasis is his, not mine):

Authorities are looking into the possibility of public indecency charges and have assigned some lucky devil to examine the case.

Now if she'd just stand on the corner of 76th and Rawson on a warm Saturday morning or afternoon advertising a car wash or carryout pizza, there'd be no problem!

I'm sure the young lady would love to have a fella like Fischer coming over to ogle her while he drooling on his shirt. But if that thought wasn't enough to keep her away from Milwaukee, Fischer also enjoys a little sophomoric banter with his good buddy, Fred Keller. (Keller, for the unfamiliar, is some nut who can't tell his left from his right.):

And just think, this is the guy that tells us how we are supposed to live and admonishes people for not being good Christians.

The questions still remains: Why does Mary Lazich keep him? Why does WISN still keep him? Why does PBS still keep him? Why does the town of Franklin still keep him?

It Is Indeed Encouraging News

McIlheran does a Whallah! on himself, without even realizing it. He writes of a visit by David Horowitz, some right wing nut and supposed journalist. (Sidenote: Why do all right wing nuts seem to be so-called journalists? That is insulting to the real ones, I'm sure.)

PaddyMac writes (emphasis mine):
The encouraging part is this, and you'll see it about two-thirds of the way through: "University officials ordered metal detectors and a security force of a more than dozen burly officers and staffers for the event. I didn’t count how many individuals had to be ejected during my remarks but there were many," he writes.

Why is that encouraging, you may ask? Because it shows there is a growing number of people that see through the lies of the righties. It also shows that there is growing discontent with the way that things are going in this country, and that more and more people are ready to correct the course we are on.

Good Luck, Ms Hollowell

From 620TMJ:
WTMJ Reporter Vicky Hollowell has been covering the beat and anchoring newscasts for nearly two years in Milwaukee. Even though she loves working in radio, a different profession and a much nobler cause has grabbed hold of her heart.

Hollowell wants to serve her country. She has decided to join the Marines.
We at Whallah! wish her nothing but the best and thank her for volunteering to serve her country in this fashion.

There is no word, though, if any of the chickenhawks, like Sykes, McIlheran, McBride or Belling will be following suit. Probably not. The helmets would probably get stuck to the hair spray.

How Did He Miss This Story?

McIlheran hates taxes...unless he is for them, like when it comes to giving extra tax money to the road builders to build bigger highways, even if they're not needed.

He goes to great lengths of logic and illogic to try to convince his reader that it is an absolute necessity to build bigger and wider and more costly highways. So it is no small wonder that he avoided this story (emphasis mine):
The perfect commute is easy, inexpensive and reliable. In cities boasting
such factors, like Buffalo, N.Y., Salt Lake City and Milwaukee the trip to work is a breeze. But for commuters in Atlanta, Detroit and Miami, the daily grind is just that, thanks to bad traffic, insufficient infrastructure and drivers who resist carpools and public transportation.

and later in the same article:
A high efficiency rating also affects cost. Driving alone is more expensive than carpooling, which is typically more expensive than public transit, which is more expensive than walking. Sweet crude oil is currently selling at more than $110 a barrel, and the less dependant commuters are on it, the cheaper the commute.

Of course, being a good member of the right wing local media, he wouldn't want you to know that, would he?

He Might Have A Point

McIlheran wrote that the "last time America screwed an ally, bad things happened:

So when the Communists launched a post-Americans attack on South Vietnam, Congress did nothing but yank out the rug. Some 65,000 South Vietnamese were murdered by the invading northerners, some 250,000 died in re-education camps, uncounted thousands more died trying to flee by sea, and the slaughter in Cambodia, with a toll in the millions, became a byword for genocide. This was the result of Congress' domestic politics.

And, Herman notes, the North's victory encouraged Marxist regimes in Africa, the Americas and Afghanistan. It also convinced the Ayatollah Khomeini that America would do nothing to stop him from imposing theocracy on Iran. We're paying the price for that yet.

For the unfamiliar, McIlheran tends to forgive Republicans everything and Democrats, nothing. Even if it's the Republicans fault. Which made me think of two friendships that the Reagan administration made, and the results of when they screwed them over:

Continued Observations

To quote a popular lawyer type of bloke, eta:

Talk Show Hosts must learn that the less secure they are, the more likely they are to have extreme prejudices.

Talk Show Hosts should realize a preconceived notion is the lock on the door to wisdom.

Talk Show Hosts should realize if one is truly knowledgeable there is NO reason to shout.

If Talk Show Hosts only realized that the less they talked, the more they would be listened to.

The Sad State Of Conservative Conversation

Why is it that some folks call Rev Wright "unhinged" or "hater" and then turn around and praise this as some sort of a rational solution?
If these solutions don't stop the tides of illegal flow in and out of our
borders, a friend of mine has a Texas-tough alternative and answer to replace
the government's virtual fence failure. In fact, he says, we don't need a
security fence at all. All we need to do is to post signs and position manned
trucks at key points, just like our government does at Area 51, the top secret
military airfield in remote central Nevada, around
which there are no fences or walls. There is never a breach or unwanted border
crossing there, at least that we hear about! And why? Because the boundary sign
reads and is never questioned, "Warning: Use of deadly force authorized."

Illegal immigration is illegal but last I checked it wasn't a capital offense. So does Norris think it's okay to use deadly force because these are brown people he's talking about slaughtering? Or is he just nuts?

Where are the bloggers condemning both intemperate speakers? Where are those who condemn The Drug Addicted Rush Limbaugh when he calls for violence in the streets of Denver?

I'm dreaming. (singing to the tune of White Christmas) "I'm dreaming
of riots in Denver." Remember 1968? And which party did that? It was the
radicals in that party, the anti-war radicals, the same bunch of clowns that are
running around defining the Democrat Party today. What the world thinks of us?
There was an analogy just this week about somebody in the world. I'm drawing a
mental blank about this.
Make the connection people. Limbaugh has been calling on his slack-jawed followers for months to participate in something he gaily calls Operation Chaos to impersonate Democrats. Then he tempts and wheedles and says he's "dreaming" that there will be demonstrations in Denver. you don't need to be Ward Churchill to connect the dots there.

Just dreaming folks. He wouldn't actually call for action. Of course, he can't be held to account for the actions of his less controllable listeners.

If this is what passes for political discourse among the mainstream Right there is no doubt why good people are turning away from its failed philosophies. These guys aren't wrapped real tight.

The Bobblehead Watch: Day 3

Tim Cuprisin writes that there are still no bids in on the Belling Bobblehead:

What? Still no bidders?

Luckily, those rebate checks will be coming in soon from Uncle Sam, producing vast pools of disposable cash to invest in Internet auctions, thus spurring economic growth.
But even better than Cuprisin's witticisms are those of his commenters:
You know Belling will buy it hmself if he knows you're watching it!

The only reason I would bid on a Mark Belling bobble head is so I could smash it with a baseball bat, a la Office Space.

The profile shots on Ebay make Mark look like he is being convicted of a crime.
And my personal favorite so far:
If Mark does not have his bobblehead what will do the thinking for him?

The Amazing Powers Of Fischer

Maybe Fischer has a reason to brag about being the star of radio, blogs and TV.

He has a power that not even I, the King, have. He can time travel:

Pay attention to the date of the memo: 11/27/08. Fischer apparently was able to jump into the future by some six months to get a memo. Now that's just amazing. Or a typo. You decide.

McIlheran: In Defense Of Incompetence

McIlheran put up a silly post today. OK, they're all usually pretty silly, but this one was sillier than most.

He tries to defend Bush's foolish policies in regards to economics, the insanity of the Iraq War, and his failure in domestic issues. He starts out with pointing out that other countries, like England, Germany, France and Italy are also in an economic meltdown. He then writes:
Rather, what it suggests is some worldwide shocks -- the American credit problems, the oil prices set off by soaring demand globally -- unsettled economies that had various weaknesses, such as overpriced real estate in Britain and parts of America.

One can and ought to fault Bush, then, for his failures -- signing us up to pay for still more absurd Medicare entitlements, for instance, or his failure to expand oil production domestically -- but one ought to keep it in perspective, as well. The economy is torpid, but is actually growing, even if at a pathetic rate. It even beat the meager expectations for the first quarter, and while 0.6% is no boom, it isn't a recession, not yet, at any rate. This may be hard to believe when we're told daily that the nation is sliding into the Great Depression II: Final Apocalypse.

Well, no, no matter how many people tell pollsters they feel things are just awful. Things aren't great, but they're not likely to get any better with a dose of the statism and surrender the Democrat contenders are offering, and they're neither as awful as you'll be constantly told nor is their awfulness the exclusive anguish of America or the result of its domestic politics.

What McIlheran doesn't mention is that the world's economics are interdependent. America is not an isolated entity. It has economic interactions with just about every other country in the world. Not only does the country have mulitnational interactions, but so do most major companies, including the banking industries, investment firms, and the stock market. What happens in other countries can affect us. The opposite is as true as well. What happens in America can affect the global economy. Even more so than most countries, considering that the US Dollar, was and for the moment, still is, the common unit of commerce.

So when Bush's idiotic policies, like spending more and more, while giving the rich more and more tax breaks, end up having the inevitable effects on our economy, it will have a ripple effect on every other country's economy as well. Actually, in this case, make it a domino effect.

Mike Mathias has more on how awful most people think Bush and his policies are. Even as McIlheran and his ilk keep trying to deny reality.

Belling Makes A Bad Situation Worse, Even More Worse and Worst

I made the mistake of listening to Belling on the radio on my way home tonight.

He was talking about the fiasco in Dane County, in which a 911 operator took a call from Brittany Zimmermann just before she was murdered, but never dispatched a squad car to investigate.

Belling made this tragic situation and made it worse, when he attributed the 911 call center to the Madison Police Department. It is run by Dane County, not the Madison PD.

To make this tragedy even worse, Belling ignores the fact that many of the homeless are the mentally ill and/or alcohol and drug abusers who cannot or will not get help. Instead, he again tries to pin this on the Madison Police Department.

But the worst thing of Belling's tirade, the part that got me royally pissed off was when he made the inane and highly racist comment that the reason the Madison Police Department haven't solved this and four other murders is because there isn't enough white men in the detective's bureau.

Yeah, you read that correctly. Belling, the same idiot that made the "wetbacks" comment hasn't figured it out yet. He went on to state (more like bellow) that the crimes haven't been solved because there are too many blacks, too many Hispanics, and too many women in the detective's bureau. He expressed that unless it was a white man in the position of detective, they were only promoted in the interest of diversity, and were basically incompetent.

Why the hell WISN and ClearChannel radio keeps getting away with, and letting Belling get away with, clearly blatant and egregious racist rants is really beyond me.

UPDATE: For a more balanced and a much more intelligent look at the issue, please read Ms. Mill's take on the issue. I really do have to offer her the position of Royal Bard in my court.

Those Who Don't Understand History...

...are doomed to work for Fox News. I mean, who doesn't remember the Abe Lincoln/Frederick Douglas debates???????

He Could Write For Whallah!

Tim Cuprisin is keeping us updated on the Belling bobblehead (yes, yes, I am aware that that is redundant):

There still are no bids for the Mark Belling bobblehead listed on eBay.

That could be because the starting bid is $44.99. It should have been priced a little more conservatively.

Isn't It Interesting?

Don't you find it odd that the same crowd that has been trying to hang Senator Obama from a gibbet built fom the words of Rev Wright are now in a state of apoplexy that someone is holding Candidate McCain to the words that he, himself, said?

Yes. We know that McCain is trying to advocate for an Army of Occupation in Iraq for 100 or 1000 or 10000 years. Yes. We know that we are now five years past "Mission Accomplished Day" with no end to American casualties in sight. Yes. We know that McCain has no plan beyond, "Stay the Course."

The American people are trying to tell McCain that the troops must come home now. McCain and his apologists aren't getting the message.

Mission Accomplished

Five years ago today, Bush gave did his infamous stunt of landing on the USS Abraham Lincoln and giving his "Mission Accomplished" speech.

The AP is reporting on the anniversary, and it shows that Bush still is unable to tell the truth:

"President Bush is well aware that the banner should have been much more specific and said `mission accomplished' for these sailors who are on this ship on their mission," White House press secretary Dana Perino said Wednesday. "And we have certainly paid a price for not being more specific on that banner. And I recognize that the media is going to play this up again tomorrow, as they do every single year."

She said what is important now is "how the president would describe the fight today. It's been a very tough month in Iraq, but we are taking the fight to the enemy."
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, in the state capitol, a group of veterans, military families and state progressives gathered to point out the fallacies that is still being spewed by the White House. You can see a small blurb on it here.

Whallah! is proud to present some rare shots from that fateful day. The first is a shot of Bush giving the "Mission Accomplished" speech, but making sure he had an out:

Also, something that was not reported by the media was that Dick Cheney was with Bush on that day. Here is a photo of the two of them last was attained at great peril to life and limb:

I would also be remiss if I did not point out how Senator John McCain feels about that day:
