Our old buddy Dad29 says that all soldiers are rapists at heart and the only way to keep them from raping is to keep women out of the military.
This is so outrageous that even Fraley in the comments says he's wrong.
I've got a couple of questions for Dad29 about his assumptions.
1) Isn't a soldier's job protection of the innocent? Shouldn't that include his cohort?
2) If you can't trust a soldier in uniform what makes him change when he sets it aside and comes home?
3) How can we trust our soldiers in civilian populations if we feel that they can't even be trusted with their own units?
I reject Dad29's rank suppositions. I call on you to do the same.
The American military man is still, and above all, an honorable man. The fact that American Civilian leadership of the military has lost the beam cannot reflect on the men, and yes, the women of our military. Day after day we hear the stories of good, ordinary soldiers doing their best to make the living Hell that is Iraq a little better.
The men that Dad29 is calling cowards and rapists are the sons of our neighbors and our friends. He may believe that "Hoo-Rah, Kill 'em all," crap but we know better. It's sad that he can't show a little respect.

The disrespect plays out on many levels, and smokes out what guys like this think about our troops. If Dad isn't too old he should put his money where his mouth is, sign up and get a taste of it.
ReplyDeleteIt just got even better over there fellas. He just told a former Marine: "Thanks for your service. Now learn to think."
ReplyDeleteVerbatim. Go look for yourselves.
Is there an award Dad could be given for being maybe the most insulting blogger in the Wisconsin blogosphere?

ReplyDeleteHe's got stiff competition for that. Maybe we could just give a group award to the whole lot of them?
Rather than commenting on his blog (because that only ever seems to lead to complete and insulting dismissals), I've posted my response here.
