'The poor deserve all the

health care they can afford'

We told you recently of Jessica McBride's compassionate conservatism on the subject of health care: The poor don't deserve it.

Now comes support for her position, in much the same terms. It comes, not surprisingly, from the owner of eight hospitals who's making a fortune and likes things just the way they are. He puts it thusly:
“Patients, he said, may simply deserve only the amount of care they can afford.”

  1. To quote a Catholic bishop:

" Among the rights indispensable to the protection of human life and dignity is the right to receive the health care necessary to live and realize one’s full potential. Pope John XXIII, in his encyclical Peace on Earth, included health care among the basic rights that flow from the sanctity and dignity of human life."

Though, by her personal life choices and her public cruelty, it is clear that neither she nor her husband choose to live by the precepts of Mother Church. If she chooses to put away her ways, forgiveness will be granted to her.
