The Ultimate Campaign Event

Here's an idea for a great Republican campaign event.

Make it a joint event between state Senator Randy "Bed" Hopper, who will be defending his seat in a recall election (if he's not in legal trouble for not living in his district) and Justice David "Blue Law" Prosser, the WMC candidate for the Wisconsin State Supreme Court.

Special guest would be Newt Gingrich.

The host would have to be of course, Charlie "Liz Woodhouse" Sykes.

And it would all be sponsored by the Koch subsidiary "Grandsons of Taking Liberties."

Even I'd pack a lunch for that Rumble Royale.

He Should've Made It A Year

Oh boy, I bet this will create a lot of jobs!

Scott Walker is bringing his full weight of office to bear by issuing a proclamation that he wants all to participate in the openly bigoted, anti-homosexual "National Marriage Week."

Word is he is going to ask his good pals Charlie Sykes, Newt Gingrich, John McCain and Rush Limbaugh to be honorary spokesman for the special occasion.

If you gave each of them a week per marriage, you'd have most of the year covered.

Giving Credit Where It's Due, I Guess

Take a look at this screenshot from the Wisconsin Club For Growth website. WCFG is one of those AstroTurf organizations that keeps the Country Springs Hotel in Pewaukee in business.

Take a good close look. I'll wait.

Up there in the top left you can see what these Very Serious People think of those that they've elected to represent them in the Lege. Pigs For Rent. That's the level of discourse they've chosen.

Why would any politician, well except for Tom Reynolds, take more than a moment or two to dismiss CFG for the group of petulant children it acts like? Is Scott Walker so starved for attention and affection that he has to give this bunch anything more than a quick brushoff? Let's take a look.
Wisconsin Club for Growth and Americans for Prosperity invite you to an old
fashioned taxpayer rally featuring The Honorable Newt Gingrich, Former
Speaker of the House of Representatives & Milwaukee County Executive Scott
Walker as Master of Ceremonies

By golly, he would sink that low. And he dragged the Newt along for ballast to hold him down in that lowly wallowing-pit of self pity. Politicians so desperate for attention that they'll belly up to a cash bar on the worn carpet of the Grand Ballroom of the CSH.

My goodness, the term "Statesman" won't be applied to these hacks anytime soon. Will it.

Do you suppose that Walker is eager to add "Pig For Rent" to his next campaign poster?

I Was Wrong About The Right Being Wrong About Wright

In fact, if one can believe Newt Gingrich, I would encourage Sykes, McIlheran, and the rest of the local right wing media to keep up their anti-Wright, anti-Obama and anti-Hillary rants. Gingrich writes:

The Anti-Obama, Anti-Wright, and Anti-Clinton GOP Model Has Been Tested -- And It Failed

The Republican brand has been so badly damaged that if Republicans try to run an anti-Obama, anti- Reverend Wright, or (if Senator Clinton wins), anti-Clinton campaign, they are simply going to fail.

This model has already been tested with disastrous results.

In 2006, there were six incumbent Republican Senators who had plenty of money, the advantage of incumbency, and traditionally successful consultants.

But the voters in all six states had adopted a simple position: "Not you." No matter what the GOP Senators attacked their opponents with, the voters shrugged off the attacks and returned to, "Not you."

The danger for House and Senate Republicans in 2008 is that the voters will say, "Not the Republicans."

Wait, She Can't Do That, Can She?

McBride again shows her journalistic integrity with a post deriding Hillary Clinton, a presidential candidate, for answering a question about terrorism as she promotes her candidacy. McBride goes starts with:

Her first thoughts about another terrorist attack occurring involve how it could help her politically.
.
She then goes on to state that the Democrats are at a disadvantage, in her opinion, in the event of a future terrorist attack, because the Republicans are the deciders and the do-gooders, while the Democrats are just a bunch of obstructionists.
.
Several issues could be brought up about this posting of McBride's. One could be trivial and point out that McBride's link leads to the Blogger sign in page, as opposed to a real news story like this.
.
Or one could discuss how McBride thinks that infringements of rights, isolationism, violations of the Geneva convention and human rights, and an illegal war which caused a recruiting boom and training camp for terrorists is actually a good thing. This could be followed up with McBride's disdain for diplomacy and statesmanship.
.
But the true McBrideian part of the post is that she lambastes Clinton for answering a question about terrorism, but puts on her cheerleader uniform and picks up her pom poms for Mr. 9/11, Newt, and her real life version of Jack Bauer (who not only capitalized on terrorism politically, but also monetarily).
