Paging Sykes, Belling, et. al.

Remember all that outrage about Jeremiah Wright and his views on what God should do to America? What have they to say to this, I wonder?

On July 20, 2008, the pastor of Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s home church, Larry Kroon, delivered a sermon called “Sin Is Personal To God.” Kroon, the senior pastor of the non-denominational Wasilla Bible Church in Wasilla, Alaska, used the book of Zephanaiah as his reference point for discussing “that great day of the Lord when God will finally bring closure to human history… a day of wrath.” According to Kroon, “all things and all people” are going to bear the brunt of God’s “intense anger.” “There’s anger with God,” he proclaimed. “He takes sin personal.”

Kroon placed Zephaniah in a modern context, warning that the sinful habits of Americans would invite the wrath of God. “And if Zephaniah were here today,” Kroon bellowed, “he’d be saying, ‘Listen, [God] is gonna deal with all the inhabitants of the earth. He is gonna strike out His hand against, yes, Wasilla; and Alaska; and the United States of America. There’s no exceptions here — there’s none. It’s all.’”

Sarah Palin's pastor thinks God is going to strike out at America, pretty much just like Reverend Wright. So, Messrs. Sykes, Belling, and company, this is worthy of our disdain too, right?

Oh, and many thanks to Capper for his kind invitation to join the Royal Court.

  1. Welcome to the Court of the King, young barrister.

Unfortunately, I needs tell you not to hold thine breath waiting for the miscreants to answer thy page.

They are too busy to remain relevant, and failing poorly.

  2. Look, this particular item is a far cry from Wright's sermon. This is pretty standard end-o-days stuff and it would seem to me he's pretty much saying nobody is safe from Judgement Day.

Maybe if you clung to your Bible a little harder you'd know that. ;)

  3. Anony, is that you Kate?

Anywho, no, Sam is dead on. Wright was no more guilty than Palin's guy, or Oral Roberts, or any of them other televangelists.

  4. What Palin's minister is in no way close to what Wright said. If you belive the Bible, you will see references of what Palin's minister said. Palin's minister says we have to change our ays while Wright just hates America and fleeeced his flock.
