CloFu? WTFu?

There are some beautiful nuances to be found in this clip from Fox News Network.

First you have the calculated goofiness of PETA who claim to be making tofu with the "Essence of George Clooney." Is it any wonder that almost no one gives them any credence?

Then you have Clooney's reaction. "Hey! I'm a mammal, too." Sheep poetry.

Third you have the cultural milepost of a news host on a supposedly-major network asking an invited guest if they are, "Nuttier than elephant stool."

And finally you get the Fox Special #4, thickly slathered sexist nonsense with a side of stereotypical homosexual banter as filtered through Murdochian sludge.

FNN and PETA. A match made in media Hell.

Conservative Women Show Real Class

Megan McCain, daughter of U.S. Senator John McCain (R-the desert), had started her own blog to talk about her feelings during her father's failed run for POTUS. She has kept up the blogging, and apparently recently took some conservative squawkers, like Ann Coulter, to task about something.

Another nationally known squawker, Laura Ingraham, went on the attack. But not for her politics, or for what she said or did, but for her looks:

After McCain, 24, criticized Anne Coulter and other far right conservatives in an online column, political commentator Laura Ingraham heckled her on her radio show last week. She said the daughter of former presidential nominee John McCain was "just another Valley Girl gone awry." She then mocked McCain in a faux Valley Girl voice, saying that she didn't get a "role in the Real World" because "they don't like plus-sized models."

I will be honest and admit that I have never listed to Ingraham, except for the clips I've heard when she ripped on Brett Favre the first time he retired. But from what I've read, she appears to be strictly one of those shock type of squawkers, like Michael Savage or Rush Limbaugh or An Coulter, who say obnoxious things like that just to draw attention to themselves.

It tells me two things about these types of people. One is that they don't have an intellectual view on anything, and are only trying to get the other person upset to throw them off balance.

The other thing is that they must be feeling very insecure and/or have a very low self-esteem that the only way that they can build themselves up is to tear other people down.

James Wigderson, a conservative local blogger, also has some views on the subject. He does start out rather well, but then kind of loses it with a desperate "they do it too" type of defense for it. But it is still worth a look see.

Squawk Radio Doing Itself In

For decades, squawkers on national and local levels, have been advocating for irresponsible economic policies. They had fully enjoined the call for the Iraq War and other irresponsible spending while demanding excessive tax cuts for the rich. They have systematically tried to destroy the middle class by trying to bust up unions. The squawkers have repeatedly pushed for all of the wealth to be in the hands of the few, hoping to be rewarded for their loyalty by getting some of these fortunes handed their way, like a dog begging at the dinner table.

Now it is all coming back to bite them in the microphone:

But for all the anti-tax swagger and the occasional stunts by personalities like KFI's John and Ken, the reality is that conservative talk radio in California is on the wane. The economy's downturn has depressed ad revenue at stations across the state, thinning the ranks of conservative broadcasters.

For that and other reasons, stations have dropped the shows of at least half a dozen radio personalities and scaled back others, in some cases replacing them with cheaper nationally syndicated programs.

And as James Rowen, who found this story, points out, these things tend to take time to work from the West to the East, it will be a only a matter of time until it reaches here. Remember, Clear Channel, which runs WISN-AM, recently announced a large amount of layoffs. And Journal Broadcasting Group, parent company of WTMJ-AM, tried to tell the unions that they would be laying off people, although that may have been a lie in trying to force an unfair contract on the unions.

R-E-S-P-E-C-T

Kevin Fischer is truly the epitome of hypocrisy.

For example, when Fischer decides to spout off on the CRG's attempt at attention seeking by calling for a recall of Governor Doyle, he adds this little line at the end (emphasis mine):

Conservatives can politely, respectfully disagree on a recall, but they are in unison that Doyle has to go, whether it is now or next year. I prefer sooner than later.

This one sentence pegs the hypocrisy meter, since ol' Fischer knows nothing about the words respect.

Just in the comment thread in this section, he belittles fellow conservative, and fellow Franklinite, Fred Keller.

Then in the comment section of another post, he insults both his former friend Keller, but also on his nemesis, Greg Kowalkski:

I'm merely providing a public service, posting an informative article about how unsafe some dog leashes are.

I see you graduated from the Greg Kowalski School of Spelling.

It is even more ironic when one considers the fact that Fischer is a master of the copy and paste himself.

Unfortunately for Fischer, Keller is not one to take it laying down, but takes it to Fischer with a post of his own, calling for Fischer's job:

As a constituent of State Sen. Mary Lazich (R-New Berlin), I call upon her to fire her Legislative Aide Kevin Fischer.

Like all who live in this great country of ours, Kevin Fischer has the right to free speech and – like me – should not be bashful about exercising this Constitutional right. However, when exercising this right, one should be prepared to take responsibility for one’s speech.

Kevin Fischer has a very long and well-documented history of showing utter contempt and outright disrespect for Sen. Lazich’s constituents in Franklin. For her part, Sen. Lazich seems incapable of, or simply unwilling to, appropriately deal with her underling’s immature behavior and caustic personal attacks on constituents in Franklin.

Franklin voters need to hold Sen. Lazich accountable for Fischer’s vitriol – on and off “the clock.”

Frequent readers of FranklinNOW are all too familiar with the venom Fischer regularly spews forth on his firebrand blog “This Just In…” It’s time for Sen. Lazich to send Kevin Fischer packing. If she chooses not to, then come election time, voters should send Mary Lazich packing.

As far as I am concerned, let Lazich keep Fischer. He does have the right to say what he wants, how he wants, when it is on his own time. But given the fact that Lazich has admitted that Fischer writers her blogspots for her, as well as his own, let her receive whatever consequences she gets for keeping him on.

It's not the first time I've heard of conservatives in Franklin also calling for her ouster. The longer she keeps him on board, and keeps him so closely tied to her, the more likely her ouster will be.

Charlie is bragging about some ezine that he supposedly edits. How someone who has only master the copy and paste can be an editor is beyond me. But either way, it was noticed that the cover of his new production was faulty.

Who's In Charge Of The GOP?

The right wing has been tearing themselves apart about every little thing, including who is the head of the GOP.

When they announced that Michael Steele was to be the new head of the GOP, all the local righties were instantly enamored with him, and praising what a good choice he was. Just like they did with Sarah Palin. Now it looks like their support is going to last him about as long as it lasted her.

Washington, D.C. (AHN) - The GOP plans to hold a no confidence vote on Republican National Committee (RNC) chairman Michael Steele after New York's 20th congressional district holds its election for the House at the end of the month, according to Political Wire.

Steele is facing increasing criticisms from his own party over his recent statements, less than six weeks into his chairmanship. The first black RNC head, he won the party's top post as controversies plagued his rivals.

I will admit that I am taking some guilty pleasure at watching the right do this to each other. It also makes me sleep better knowing that someone like Rush, with his low approval ratings, it the GOP's unofficial leader.

This Just In?

Kevin Fischer, crack reporter, at 10:22 pm, says he has heard "on good authority" that there was a run in between two Greenfield candidates, including one trying to allegedly run the other one over.
He adds that the daily paper is "hot on the trail" and that we "should check it out on Tuesday."

That same daily paper, at 9:54 pm, almost a whole half hour earlier, actually gives the story, with interviews, quotes from the participants, and all that good stuff.

Stay tuned tomorrow, when Kevin Fischer tells us that Obama won the presidential election in another breaking news story.

National Rush (into) Limbo Appreciation Day

And there is a lot of people appreciating the jowly, sex- and drug-addicted, hate-mongering three-time divorcee.

Jim Burkee takes a more serious look at Rush:

Ideological movements need people like Rush Limbaugh to convey beliefs in engaging and simplified ways - something he is particularly skilled at doing. But if conservatism is to retain any semblance of intellectual depth, the seriousness and reasoned consistency necessary to transform it again into a broad, majoritarian movement, conservatives must vocally reject any notion that Rush Limbaugh is a prominent or serious leader.

Looking to a man who refers to opposition leaders as "Dingy Harry" and "Barack the Magic Negro" conveys all the sobriety and profundity of "Joe the Plumber." It's entertaining, but hardly the stuff of movements.

The problem is, as a friend and fan of Rush Limbaugh told me this morning, "There's nothing else out there" for conservatives.

Self-Fulfilling Prophecy

The definition of self-fulfilling prophesy is:

The self-fulfilling prophecy is a statement that alters actions and therefore comes true. For example, a person stating “I’m probably going to have a lousy day,” might alter his actions so that such a prediction is fulfilled by his actions. This may be an unconscious gesture. A person who might espouse a self-fulfilling prophecy in a positive way “I’m going to have a great day,” might act in ways that will actually make this prediction true.

Judge Randy Koschnick talks with Mike Gousha:

GOUSHA: Very briefly are you surprised its become a campaign issue, for some on the left and some on the right?

KOSCHNICK: I think most of the criticism on that particular topic is coming from Abrahamson supporters. I think they are trying to make a big deal out of that. I have not heard that criticism from many conservatives, frankly.

GOUSHA: Not that she has personally made it an issue?

KOSCHNICK: I don’t think she has done it personally at all, but people who tend to support her, through various forums and articles that I have read tend to raise that much more frequently than the conservatives who are supporting me. It hasn’t been a problem with the conservatives that I have been talking to.

Apparently the judge hasn't been talking to Mark Belling , who's gone after him regularly. Belling's hardly one of the usual liberal suspects or an Abrahamson supporter.

Unfortunately, Gousha didn't challenge him.
