Be Careful What You Wish For

In the previous post, it was mentioned that McBride and her readers were perturbed that the media was actually reporting the news. I guess they only like news that fits into their skewed sense of reality. But the really ironic thing is a suggestion that McBride allowed in her comments thread:

Phelony Jones said...

I think we should scour the backgrounds of journalists and plaster them all over [insert media outlet].

What the h have they ever done.

Now, can you even imagine the stuff that would be flying out of the proverbial fan if someone were to really go into depth about the background histories of our local right-wing media?

ATTENTION: Please feel free to comment, but please don't write anything I'll have to delete. Keep it clean, keep it generic, and don't let it become personal. We don't need to stoop to their level.

  1. I don't understand why we can't get personal, when the policies that these people advocate are so entirely, personally intrusive. What a woman does with her uterus? How and with whom someone chooses to achieve orgasm? Whether families can make decisions about whether someone may die with some dignity, versus having the state decide? All of these characters argue day in and day out for the heavy hand of government to intrude on our personal lives. Because of that, I say that their philandering and whoremongering, their adultery and shabby personal behavior, their plagiarizing and fabulism, all of this is fair game. Once they get out of my bedroom, I'll get out of theirs. Wait. On second thought, a wave of nausea passed over me at the thought of Sykes, McBride, McIlheran, et al, nekkid.

  2. It's totally topical and totally fair game: The Rudy Guiliani campaign is having to answer questions about taxpayer-funded security for his then-mistress. Jessica McBride, while covering Paul Bucher, was the Other Woman. Why doesn't she weigh in on what she thinks of Judith Nathan and her role in the affair? You know what they say: Write what you know.

  3. Anony 1 and Anony 2,

What you both say is absolutely true. However, as we saw with the c-word incident, the right also will use their selective outrage to distract from the message that we are trying to convey. The right read this site with regularity and have posted on it. They would not hesitate to grab an offense and use it to the hilt.

We know what the truth is, they know what the truth is, and they know we know. That will suffice... for now.

  4. Isn't Phelony Jones part of the right wing blogosphere? Or am I confusin her with someone else?

  5. Capper: Have any of the right wingers taken umbrage at questions about McBride's or Sykes's personal life? My impression is that they become resoundingly mum when those topics are raised. I really want to see that guy who uses all caps go into orbit about this.
