McCain The Elitist

McSamePain has put up a challenge to Senator Obama to visit Iraq with him. McCain makes this statement in grandstanding (emphasis mine):

"I go back every few months because things are changing in Iraq," he said. McCain questioned whether Obama has ever been briefed by Petraeus. "I would also seize that opportunity to educate Senator Obama along the way."
Sounds more than a bit elitist, doesn't it?

And what would McSamePain teach Obama? How to put on a flack jacket properly and how to stay with his battalion of bodyguards? I'm sure that the soldiers in Iraq have more important things to do than babysit some grandstanding grouch:

And as far as having an sit down with General Patraeus, well, doesn't the general come to Washington to report regularly. Or if he's not available, Obama could just read the White House press releases or watch Faux News. It's really all the same thing anyway.

  1. Capper,

It is clear you don't know what an elitist is? McCain is an elitist because he wants to "educate" Obama with first hand experiences of the lives of the troops. That sounds rather anti-elitist to me. It sounds to me McCain wants to cure him of his elitism.

Obama is elitist in the same way GW was. Feingold, for example, has been against this war from the beginning, yet how many times has he been to Iraq.

So, let me get it right. Since McCain sees it as an obligation to visit the troops on a regular basis he is an elitist.

Obama reminds me every day more of Bush. He is totally disconnected from the lives of Americans, and he has been lying so long he does not know which side is up.

  2. Proletariat-

Actually, when you consider that the vast majority of Americans want out of Iraq, and the numbers are ever-growing that people realize it was a bad idea to start this war (and we did start it), it would seem that Obama is much more in touch than McCain.

And to infer that a US Senator, who is running for POTUS, wouldn't be kept up to date on Iraq is simply laughable, and yes, elitist.

    But hey, thanks for reading.
