Such A Surging Success

The right wing squawk brigade can't crow enough about the "success of the surge" in Iraq. They are ready to build a 100 foot tall, golden statue of General David Petraeus.

But was it so successful, as they would have us believe? From Bush's speech, outlining the goals of the surge:

“So America will hold the Iraqi government to the benchmarks it has announced.
To establish its authority, the Iraqi government plans to take responsibility for security in all of Iraq’s provinces by November. To give every Iraqi citizen a stake in the country’s economy, Iraq will pass legislation to share oil revenues among all Iraqis. To show that it is committed to delivering a better life, the Iraqi government will spend $10 billion of its own money on reconstruction and infrastructure projects that will create new jobs. To empower local leaders, Iraqis plan to hold provincial elections later this year. And to allow more Iraqis to re-enter their nation’s political life, the government will reform de-Baathification laws, and establish a fair process for considering amendments to Iraq’s constitution.” - GWB, Jan 10, 2007

Gee, I must have missed all of this on any of their blogs, radio shows, TV shows, articles and shouts from the rooftops.

  1. The surge is a success in the same way Jessica McBride is a success.

  2. Hey, she has a radio show that's broadcast on the Internet. Sort of a modern-day Severeid. She's wildly successful, just look at all the awards she says she's won.

  3. Historians will accurately label George W. Bush as the worst president in history. It will be interesting to see how she reacts to the recession, unemployment cuts in UWM funding etc, necesitated byt he deficit from the war without regard to the 4,000 plus american lives lost and tens of thousands decimated. I wonder if she will comment on the post that talked about her stepchildren going to war. Buch brags about being in condition all the time maybe he could go clean 'em up in Iraq. Does anyone know if his resume includes military? Didn't seem like it. Think I remember him saying he went to college dropped out dug some ditches and went back to school or something like that.
