Chuck without Chuckles

There are people who tell me Charlie Sykes is funny. My humor is fairly broad and can latch onto almost anything, but if I can pop lots of high pressure medication and listen real close to Charlie's show, I find no humor.

That might explain his lack at being a humortologist in freaking out over a bit on the Randi Rhodes show. Without exception the bits that open the hour on her shows are hilarious and shoot right to the heart of Republican hypocrisy and BS.

Charlie zeros in on one bit that parodies conservative pandemonium over the pending (at the time) ascendancy of John McCain and the angst of Romney followers. Since Sykes can't generate decent humor, he doesn't recognize the point of a joke when he hears it. Sykes says the spoof talks about "Romney supporters going on a killing spree" and "mocks McCain's years as a POW."

Listen to it yourself. Anybody with half a brain could see how broad the humor is, though of course this is tough for narrow minds. He can't be that desperate for things to write about. Really. Of course he has a an audience of toadies that hang (literally) on his every word.

As for the reference about McCain, this part of the bit parodies how the right wing stops at nothing to trash someone's record regardless of their military sacrifices. Ask Max Cleland and John Kerry how much respect your time in Viet Nam gets you among the gallant and brave men of the right wing.

Romney is doing his part -- by stopping his campaign! Sadly though no matter how hard Willard "Mitt" Romney hits the breaks, he cannot stop the careening humiliation of overshadowing a somewhat decent career of public service through non-stop pandering and losing this primary season. His campaign bus should have had a sticker "I'm spending my five strapping boys' inheritance."

This Romney of course is the guy who feels that anybody who votes for a Democrat is putting this country at risk. Now that's humor. Sick humor from a slick politician who in the end fooled not too many voters -- only those in attendance at the Conservative Political Action Conference -- and Charlie Sykes.

Exactly. Next up, Charlie Sykes discovers Howard Stern and the National Lampoon Radio Hour circa 1974.

  2. Where was Chuckles when Ann Coulter was mocking McCain's war record because he mentions it more than John Kerry, or comparing McCain to Hitler except Hitler had a better tax policy.

    Chuckles is a joke himself.
