Whallah! Gets It Wrong---Twice

When Governor Lee Sherman Dreyfus passed away, Whallah! scolded the right wing squawk brigade for not putting up a fitting tribute. Well, I was wrong. McBride did a whole column for the Waukesha Freeman in honor of Dreyfus. Although, it appears she did not want to put a lot of effort into it:

In rereading his columns, though, I had a very tough time coming up with other pithy sound bites. He wasn’t like that.

Whallah! also questioned whether McBride would call Sykes out on his sexist postings of late. I guess I was wrong about that too. She apparently has had a change of heart when it comes to sexism. From the same Freeman article:

"As you probably know, there are those who want to change Mother’s Day to Women’s Day and thus honor all women, not just those who have children. I think that would be a mistake since bearing the next generation is clearly the most important function women perform."

I just wonder if she will be giving up her job as a journalism lecturer at UWM to stay home, pregnant and barefoot, in the kitchen.

  1. It's for the kids, Capper. How can you be against that?

  2. Interesting that she apparently doesn't know there already is a Women's Day -- internationally as well as in the U.S. (Hint: it's in March, and the reason that's Women's History Month here, too, also by decree of every president for decades.)

Not to be confused with another day, Women's Equality Day, annually -- also by presidential and congressional decree -- marking the anniversary of the 19th Amendment. Doesn't seem to have been marked in her blog ever, though, either.

  3. I guess I'm only surprised that Charlie didn't write "The only function." On the other hand, I'm still trying to figure out why he'd marry a woman who's smarter than he is.

  4. Charlie's married a few women. To which one do you refer?
